Upcoming Events in 2016 & 2017

Here at Holloways, we are always busy working due to the events we have every year... This year we are even busier as we are now a part of Wilderness Wildlife week in Pigeon Forge. We just finished up Pigeon Forge, A Mountain quiltfest last month. It was a ton of fun! We enjoyed helping Ro Gregg and Patti Carey teach about different techniques and trends in the fabric business.

The girls at the shop have been busy getting ready for our next event, Wilderness Wildlife week.  Maria will be teaching some beginner quilting classes and will have a booth during the event. Wilderness Wildlife week is May 18th- May 22nd in the Le Conte Center in pigeon Forge. Admission is FREE! Wilderness Wildlife Week has a variety of programs for all ages and different interests, ranging from programs specifically for the youngsters to guided hikes for the more adventurous folks. The programs will be offered from around 8:00 AM until around 7:30 PM daily. For more information click here: http://www.mypigeonforge.com/events/wilderness-wildlife-week/

We're super excited for shop hop this year! Shop hop is June  2nd-June 11th. This year we used all American made fabrics for our squares. We have even pieced the top of our  quilt for this year, below is a sneak peek.

Quilt Barns of East Tennessee

If you have been following our blog then you know that we have been a little arms preoccupied with quilt barns lately.  Starting with Shop Hop, we unveiled the photos of 12 of our favorites printed on fabric as part of each shop's block.  Then in July we were privileged to attend a bed turning and luncheon to benefit the Quilt Trail of Northeast TN.

We are pleased to announce the next phase of quilt barns for Holloway's Country Home.  Maria has been working with Paintbrush Studios to design and print this wonderful new panel.

It features each of our Twelve favorite quilt barns on a single panel.  The artist rendition highlights the beauty of each barn and the quilt block hung on it.  Each barn measures approximately 7"x9" and the colors coordinate beautifully with much of the Marblehead line by Ro Gregg, also from Paintbrush Studios.

We recently received a few sample panels as part of the first run of printing.  We will be shipping all preorders in late October.  Each panel is $16.95 plus $3.00 shipping.

The kit is also available for preorder!  Ask for details!

Great news for all of you who are attending AQS Chattanooga this week!  If you preorder at our booth we will pay the shipping for you!

Stop by and see Maria and Dawn today to order yours!

It's Summertime

Wow! It has been a busy year so far at Holloway's.  In March we participated in A Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge and had one of our best shows ever!  Thanks to all you quilters who travel so far to make shows like this such a great success.

All of April and May we spent gearing things up for the busy activities of summer.  And boy has it been crazy!  Preparing kits for both East Tennessee Shop Hop and Row by Row Experience at the same time can get somewhat overwhelming, but thanks to our great team at Holloway's things have run smoothly.

Shop Hop was also one of our best yet!  Everyone who came in the shop seemed to love the barns that were part of kits.  If you missed a shop, remember that you can contact each of the shops and they would be glad to ship while they still have barns in stock.

Now we have moved straight into Row By Row.  If you have never done it you are missing out on a great time!  It's a great opportunity (excuse) to check out quilt shops all over the USA and even Canada.  Check out rowbyrowexperience.com for all the locations and rules.

We even have Row By Row fabric available in the shop.  Get it now while supplies last.  Hope to see you this summer.  Pop in when you are in the mountains and say hello.

Off to a Great Start!

Shop Hop 2015 is off to a great start!  We have been so thrilled to see first timers and returning customers!  The first three days have been a whirlwind of customers and special guests.

Saturday was a fantastic day.  Out on the porch customers were welcomed by Maria, Sue Jones of Its Sew Sue, and Susie Cunard of Sawgrass.  These "designing women" have been cooking up some fantastic new ideas to share later in the year. So keep your eyes and ears posted for updates.

Maria even was able to sneak in some time for pictures with some of our shop hoppers!

Have you mapped out the rest of your hop yet?  Hope to see you this week at Holloway's!

Gearing Up For Shop Hop 2015

It's been a whirlwind of activity at the shop this week.  The staff has been busy this week with all the finishing touches for Shop Hop!

We hope you have been following us and the other shops on Facebook and all our websites.  This year's blocks are great!

The theme this year is Quilt Barns of Tennessee.  Each shop has a fabric picture of a different quilt barn incorporated into their block.  And all the shops are using a Marblehead from Paintbrush Studios as a unifying fabric.  When you purchase your passport and collectible pin from any of the participating shops you are entitled to a free pattern and a gift at each of the shops June 4th -13th.  Make sure you fill out your info on your passport and get it stamped at each shop you visit!

When you are done hopping, just drop off your passport at the last shop to be entered into the drawings for some absolutely fantastic prizes!

Also at each shop you will have the opportunity to buy a block kit.  In the kit is included your barn picture, the free pattern, and all the material it takes to make the block.

Collect all 12 barns by visiting all 12 shops!

Shop Hop can be soooo much fun!   Just a grab a group of quilty friends and take a road trip through some beautiful countryside and visit some of the best quilt shops in the nation!

Often we get asked about the pattern for the complete Shop Hop quilt.  Each block is designed independently by each shop.  The only way to get the entire quilt pattern is to visit all 12 shops.  The quilt is by nature a sampler quilt.

If you choose to collect all the barns but are not sure if you want to complete the quilt as a sampler, then you can pick and choose your favorite patterns still using the fabrics that come on your kits or you could use an alternate pattern!  The fun of it is that this is YOUR quilt!  Make it beautiful to you!

Holloway's will be offering a few things to help you finish up your quilts!

We will be cutting the unifying fabric into what we call long yards!  This is a 22"x72" piece of fabric.  This cut enable you to add borders without piecing them.

We also have a wonderful pattern from local designer Sue Jones for those of you who love the barns but would prefer to not do a sampler quilt.  Just collect the kits from each shop so you have the barns and then use them in this pattern.  We also have fabric kits available so you can piece the top just like her sample if you desire.

We at Holloway's are thrilled to be a part of the East Tennessee Shop Hop and are looking forward to seeing you over the next 10 days!  This is such a great opportunity to visit each of these shops, but if you can't make it to Shop Hop we hope you will take time to visit the next time you are in the area!
